‘walk before Me and be perfect’ Par 3.vi

10-31-2014 Genesis 6th Portion
Chapter 15,7. And He said to him,

"I am THE ETERNAL,
Who brought you forth from Ur of the Chaldees,
to give you this land to inherit it."
8. And he said,
"O Lord THE ETERNAL,
how will I know that I will inherit it?"
9. And He said to him,
"Take for Me three heifers
and three goats
and three rams,
and a turtle dove
and a young bird."
10. And he took for Him all these,
and he divided them in the middle,
and he placed each part opposite its mate,
but he did not divide the birds.
11. And the birds of prey
descended upon the carcasses,
and Abram drove them away.
12. Now the sun was ready to set,
and a deep sleep fell upon Abram,
and behold,
a fright,
a great darkness was falling upon him.
13. And He said to Abram,
"You shall surely know
that your seed will be sojourners
in a land that is not theirs,
and they will enslave them
and oppress them,
for four hundred years.
14. And also the nation
that they will serve will I judge,
and afterwards they will go forth
with great possessions.
15. But you will come to your forefathers in peace;
you will be buried in a good old age.
16. And the fourth generation will return here,
for the iniquity of the Amorites will not be complete until then."
17. Now it came to pass that the sun had set,
and it was dark,
and behold,
a smoking furnace and a fire brand,
which passed between these parts.
18. On that day,
THE ETERNAL formed a covenant with Abram, saying,
"To your seed I have given this land,
from the river of Egypt until the great river,
the Euphrates river.
19. The Kenites, the Kenizzites,
and the Kadmonites,
20. And the Hittites
and the Perizzites
and the Rephaim,
21. And the Amorites
and the Canaanites
and the Girgashites
and the Jebusites."
Chapter 16,1. Now Sarai,
Abram’s wife,
had not borne to him,
and she had an Egyptian handmaid named Hagar.
2. And Sarai said to Abram,
"Behold now,
THE ETERNAL has restrained me from bearing;
please come to my handmaid;
perhaps I will be built up from her."
And Abram hearkened to Sarai’s voice.
3. So Sarai,
Abram’s wife,
took Hagar the Egyptian,
her handmaid,
at the end of ten years of Abram’s dwelling
in the land of Canaan,
and she gave her to Abram her husband for a wife.
4. And he came to Hagar,
and she conceived,
and she saw that she was pregnant,
and her mistress became unimportant in her eyes.
5. And Sarai said to Abram,
"May my injustice be upon you!
I gave my handmaid into your bosom,
and she saw that she had become pregnant,
and I became unimportant in her eyes.
May THE ETERNAL judge between me and you!"
6. And Abram said to Sarai,
"Here is your handmaid in your hand;
do to her that which is proper in your eyes."
And Sarai afflicted her,
and she fled from before her.
7. And the angel of THE ETERNAL
found her by a water fountain in the desert,
by the fountain on the road to Shur.
8. And he said,
"Hagar, Sarai’s servant,
where are you coming from,
and where are you going to?"
And she said,
"From before Sarai my mistress,
I am fleeing."
9. And the angel of THE ETERNAL said to her,
"Return to your mistress,
and allow yourself to be afflicted under her hands."
10. And the angel of THE ETERNAL said to her,
"I will greatly multiply your seed,
and it will not be counted for abundance."
11. And the angel of THE ETERNAL said to her,
"Behold, you will conceive and bear a son,
and you shall name him Ishmael,
for THE ETERNAL has heard your affliction.
12. And he will be a wild donkey of a man;
his hand will be upon all,
and everyone’s hand upon him,
and before all his brothers he will dwell."
13. And she called the name of THE ETERNAL,
Who had spoken to her,
"You are the God of seeing,"
because she said,
"Have I seen[him]here also after I have seen?"
14. Therefore the well was called Be’er Lachai Ro’i;
behold it is between Kadesh and between Bered.
15. And Hagar bore a son to Abram,
and Abram named his son,
whom Hagar had borne, Ishmael.
16. And Abram was eighty-six years old,
when Hagar bore Ishmael to Abram.
Chapter 17,1. And Abram was ninety-nine years old,
and God appeared to Abram,
and He said to him,
"I am the Almighty God;
walk before Me and be perfect.
2. And I will place My covenant between Me
and between you,
and I will multiply you very greatly."
3. And Abram fell upon his face,
and God spoke with him, saying,
4. "As for Me,
behold My covenant is with you,
and you shall become the father of a multitude of nations.
5. And your name shall no longer be called Abram,
but your name shall be Abraham,
for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations.
6. And I will make you exceedingly fruitful,
and I will make you into nations,
and kings will emerge from you.

‘and it was the house of Micah’ JESUSbible-II

JESUSbible-II 10-31-2014
Judges 17,1 Now there was a man

of the hill-country of Ephraim, whose name was Micah.
17,2 And he said unto his mother:
‘The eleven hundred pieces of silver that were taken from thee,
about which thou didst utter a curse,
and didst also speak it in mine ears,
behold, the silver is with me; I took it.’
And his mother said:
‘Blessed be my son of JEHOVAH.’
17,3 And he restored the eleven hundred pieces of silver to his mother,
and his mother said:
‘I verily dedicate the silver unto JEHOVAH from my hand for my son,
to make a graven image and a molten image;
now therefore I will restore it unto thee.’
17,4 And when he restored the money unto his mother,
his mother took two hundred pieces of silver,
and gave them to the founder,
who made thereof a graven image and a molten image;
and it was in the house of Micah.
17,5 And the man Micah had a house of God,
and he made an ephod, and teraphim,
and consecrated one of his sons,
who became his priest.
17,6 In those days there was no king in Israel;
every man did that which was right in his own eyes. {P}

17,7 And there was a young man out of Beth-lehem in Judah–

in the family of Judah–

who was a Levite, and he sojourned there.
17,8 And the man departed out of the city, out of Beth-lehem in Judah,
to sojourn where he could find a place;
and he came to the hill-country of Ephraim to the house of Micah,
as he journeyed. 17,9 And Micah said unto him:
‘Whence comest thou?’
And he said unto him:
‘I am a Levite of Beth-lehem in Judah,
and I go to sojourn where I may find a place.’
17,10 And Micah said unto him:
‘Dwell with me, and be unto me a father and a priest,
and I will give thee ten pieces of silver by the year,
and a suit of apparel, and thy victuals.’
So the Levite went in. 17,11 And the Levite was content
to dwell with the man; and the young man
was unto him as one of his sons.
17,12 And Micah consecrated the Levite,
and the young man became his priest,
and was in the house of Micah.
17,13 Then said Micah:
‘Now know I that JEHOVAH will do me good,
seeing I have a Levite as my priest.’ {P}

11-01-14
18,1 In those days there was no king in Israel;

and in those days the tribe of the Danites
sought them an inheritance to dwell in;
for unto that day there had nothing been allotted
unto them among the tribes of Israel for an inheritance. {P}

18,2 And the sons of Dan sent of their family five men
from their whole number, men of valour, from Zorah,
and from Eshtaol, to spy out the land, and to search it;
and they said unto them:
‘Go, search the land’;
and they came to the hill-country of Ephraim,
unto the house of Micah, and lodged there.
18,3 When they were by the house of Micah,
they knew the voice of the young man the Levite;
and they turned aside thither, and said unto him:
‘Who brought thee hither? and what doest thou in this place?
and what hast thou here?’
18,4 And he said unto them:
‘Thus and thus hath Micah dealt with me, and he hath hired me,
and I am become his priest.’
18,5 And they said unto him:
‘Ask counsel, we pray thee, of God, that we may know
whether our way which we are going shall be prosperous.’
18,6 And the priest said unto them:
‘Go in peace; before JEHOVAH is your way wherein ye go.’ {P}

18,7 Then the five men departed, and came to Laish,
and saw the people that were therein, how they dwelt in security,
after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure;
for there was none in the land, possessing authority,
that might put them to shame in any thing,
and they were far from the Zidonians, and had no dealings with any man.
18,8 And they came unto their brethren to Zorah and Eshtaol;
and their brethren said unto them:
‘What say ye?’
18,9 And they said:
‘Arise, and let us go up against them; for we have seen the land,
and, behold, it is very good; and are ye still?
be not slothful to go and to enter in to possess the land.
18,10 When ye go, ye shall come unto a people secure,
and the land is large; for God hath given it into your hand;
a place where there is no want; it hath every thing that is in the earth.’
18,11 And there set forth from thence of the family of the Danites,
out of Zorah and out of Eshtaol, six hundred men girt with weapons of war.
18,12 And they went up, and encamped in Kiriath-jearim, in Judah;
wherefore that place was called Mahaneh-dan unto this day;
behold, it is behind Kiriath-jearim. 18,13 And they passed thence
unto the hill-country of Ephraim, and came unto the house of Micah.
18,14 Then answered the five men that went to spy out the country of Laish,
and said unto their brethren:
‘Do ye know that there is in these houses an ephod, and teraphim,
and a graven image, and a molten image?
now therefore consider what ye have to do.’
18,15 And they turned aside thither, and came to the house of the young man
the Levite, even unto the house of Micah, and asked him of his welfare.
18,16 And the six hundred men girt with their weapons of war,
who were of the sons of Dan, stood by the entrance of the gate.
18,17 And the five men that went to spy out the land went up,
and came in thither, and took the graven image, and the ephod,
and the teraphim, and the molten image; and the priest stood
by the entrance of the gate with the six hundred men girt with weapons of war.
18,18 And when these went into Micah’s house, and fetched
the graven image of the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image,
the priest said unto them:
‘What do ye?’
18,19 And they said unto him:
‘Hold thy peace, lay thy hand upon thy mouth, and go with us,
and be to us a father and a priest; is it better for thee to be priest
unto the house of one man, or to be priest unto a tribe and a family in Israel?’
18,20 And the priest’s heart was glad, and he took the ephod, and the teraphim,
and the graven image, and went in the midst of the people.
18,21 So they turned and departed, and put the little ones and the cattle
and the goods before them. 18,22 When they were a good way from the house of Micah,
the men that were in the houses near to Micah’s house were gathered together,
and overtook the sons of Dan. 18,23 And they cried unto the sons of Dan.
And they turned their faces, and said unto Micah:
‘What aileth thee, that thou comest with such a company?’
18,24 And he said:
‘Ye have taken away my god which I made, and the priest, and are gone away,
and what have I more? and how then say ye unto me: What aileth thee?’
18,25 And the sons of Dan said unto him:
‘Let not thy voice be heard among us, lest angry fellows fall upon you,
and thou lose thy life, with the lives of thy household.’
18,26 And the sons of Dan went their way; and when Micah saw
that they were too strong for him, he turned and went back unto his house.
18,27 And they took that which Micah had made, and the priest whom he had,
and came unto Laish, unto a people quiet and secure, and smote them
with the edge of the sword; and they burnt the city with fire.
18,28 And there was no deliverer, because it was far from Zidon,
and they had no dealings with any man; and it was in the valley that lieth by Beth-rehob.
And they built the city, and dwelt therein. 18,29 And they called the name of the city Dan,
after the name of Dan their father, who was born unto Israel;
howbeit the name of the city was Laish at the first. 18,30 And the sons of Dan
set up for themselves the graven image; and Jonathan, the son of Gershom,
the son of Manasseh, he and his sons were priests to the tribe of the Danites
until the day of the captivity of the land. 18,31 So they set them up Micah’s graven image
which he made, all the time that the house of God was in Shiloh. {P}

n. This is a very significant episode in the history of God’s people.

Never before had there been a structure dedicated for worship of God aside from

the Tabernacle which HE had ordered.

Jeremiah Chapter 25,1 The word that came to Jeremiah

concerning all the people of Judah
in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah,
that was the first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon;
2 which Jeremiah the prophet spoke unto all the people of Judah,
and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying:
3 From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah,
even unto this day, these three and twenty years,
the word of JEHOVAH hath come unto me,
and I have spoken unto you, speaking betimes and often;
but ye have not hearkened.
4 And JEHOVAH hath sent unto you all His servants the prophets,
sending them betimes and often–

but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear–

5 saying:
‘Return ye now every one from his evil way,
and from the evil of your doings,
and dwell in the land that JEHOVAH hath given
unto you and to your fathers, for ever and ever;
6 and go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them,
and provoke Me not with the work of your hands,
and I will do you no hurt.’
7 Yet ye have not hearkened unto Me, saith JEHOVAH;
that ye might provoke Me
with the work of your hands to your own hurt. {P}

8 Therefore thus saith JEHOVAH of hosts:
Because ye have not heard My words, 9 behold,
I will send and take all the families of the north, saith JEHOVAH,
and I will send unto Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon,
My servant, and will bring them against this land,
and against the inhabitants thereof,
and against all these nations round about;
and I will utterly destroy them,
and make them an astonishment, and a hissing,
and perpetual desolations.
10 Moreover I will cause to cease from among them
the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness,
the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride,
the sound of the millstones, and the light of the lamp.
11 And this whole land shall be a desolation, and a waste;
and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.
12 And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished,
that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith JEHOVAH,
for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans;
and I will make it perpetual desolations.
13 And I will bring upon that land all My words
which I have pronounced against it,
even all that is written in this book,
which Jeremiah hath prophesied against all the nations.
14 For many nations and great kings shall make bondmen of them also;
and I will recompense them according to their deeds,
and according to the work of their own hands. {P}

15 For thus saith JEHOVAH God of Israel, unto me:
Take this cup of the wine of fury at My hand, and cause all the nations,
to whom I send thee, to drink it. 16 And they shall drink,
and reel to and fro, and be like madmen,
because of the sword that I will send among them.–

17 Then took I the cup of JEHOVAH’S hand,
and made all the nations to drink, unto whom JEHOVAH had sent me:
18 Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof,
and the princes thereof, to make them an appalment,
an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse; as it is this day;
19 Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes,
and all his people; 20 and all the mingled people;
and all the kings of the land of Uz,
and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon,
and Gaza, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod;
21 Edom, and Moab, and the sons of Ammon;
22 and all the kings of Tyre, and all the kings of Zidon,
and the kings of the isle which is beyond the sea;
23 Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all
that have the corners of their hair polled;
24 and all the kings of Arabia,
and all the kings of the mingled people that dwell in the wilderness;
25 and all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of Elam,
and all the kings of the Medes; 26 and all the kings of the north,
far and near, one with another; and all the kingdoms of the world,
which are upon the face of the earth.–

And the king of Sheshach shall drink after them.
27 And thou shalt say unto them: {P}

Thus saith JEHOVAH of hosts God of Israel:
Drink ye, and be drunken, and spew, and fall, and rise no more,
because of the sword which I will send among you.
28 And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at thy hand to drink,
then shalt thou say unto them: Thus saith JEHOVAH of hosts:
Ye shall surely drink. 29 For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city
whereupon My name is called, and should ye be utterly unpunished?
Ye shall not be unpunished; for I will call for a sword
upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith JEHOVAH of hosts.
30 Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words,
and say unto them: JEHOVAH doth roar from on high,
and utter His voice from His holy habitation;
He doth mightily roar because of His fold;
He giveth a shout, as they that tread the grapes,
against all the inhabitants of the earth.
31 A noise is come even to the end of the earth;
for JEHOVAH hath a controversy with the nations,
He doth plead with all flesh; as for the wicked,
He hath given them to the sword, saith JEHOVAH. {S}
32 Thus saith JEHOVAH of hosts:
Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation,
and a great storm shall be raised up
from the uttermost parts of the earth.
33 And the slain of JEHOVAH shall be at that day
from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth;
they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried;
they shall be dung upon the face of the ground.
34 Wail, ye shepherds, and cry; and wallow yourselves in the dust,
ye leaders of the flock; for the days of your slaughter are fully come,
and I will break you in pieces, and ye shall fall like a precious vessel.
35 And the shepherds shall have no way to flee,
nor the leaders of the flock to escape.
36 Hark! the cry of the shepherds,
and the wailing of the leaders of the flock!
For JEHOVAH despoileth their pasture.
37 And the peaceable folds are brought to silence
because of the fierce anger of JEHOVAH.
38 He hath forsaken His covert, as the lion;
for their land is become a waste
because of the fierceness of the oppressing sword,
and because of His fierce anger. {P}

Jeremiah Chapter 26,1 In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim
son of Josiah, king of Judah, came this word from JEHOVAH, saying:
2 ‘Thus saith JEHOVAH: Stand in the court of JEHOVAH’S house,
and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship
in the house of JEHOVAH, all the words that I command thee
to speak unto them; diminish not a word.
3 It may be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way;
that I may repent Me of the evil, which I purpose to do
unto them because of the evil of their doings.
4 And thou shalt say unto them: Thus saith JEHOVAH:
If ye will not hearken to Me, to walk in My law,
which I have set before you, 5 to hearken to the words of My servants
the prophets, whom I send unto you,
even sending them betimes and often, but ye have not hearkened;
6 then will I make this house like Shiloh,
and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.’ {P}

7 So the priests and the prophets and all the people
heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of JEHOVAH.
8 Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end
of speaking all that JEHOVAH had commanded him
to speak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets
and all the people laid hold on him, saying:
‘Thou shalt surely die. 9 Why hast thou prophesied
in the name of JEHOVAH, saying: This house shall be like Shiloh,
and this city shall be desolate, without an inhabitant?’
And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah
in the house of JEHOVAH. 10 When the princes of Judah
heard these things, they came up from the king’s house
unto the house of JEHOVAH; and they sat in the entry
of the new gate of the house of JEHOVAH. {S}
11 Then spoke the priests and the prophets unto the princes
and to all the people, saying:
‘This man is worthy of death; for he hath prophesied
against this city, as ye have heard with your ears.’
12 Then spoke Jeremiah unto all the princes
and to all the people, saying:
‘JEHOVAH sent me to prophesy against this house
and against this city all the words that ye have heard.
13 Therefore now amend your ways and your doings,
and hearken to the voice of JEHOVAH your God;
and JEHOVAH will repent Him of the evil
that He hath pronounced against you. 14 But as for me,
behold, I am in your hand; do with me as is good
and right in your eyes. 15 Only know ye for certain that,
if ye put me to death, ye will bring innocent blood upon yourselves,
and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof;
for of a truth JEHOVAH hath sent me unto you
to speak all these words in your ears.’ {S}
16 Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests
and to the prophets:
‘This man is not worthy of death; for he hath spoken to us
in the name of JEHOVAH our God.’
17 Then rose up certain of the elders of the land,
and spoke to all the assembly of the people, saying:
18 ‘Micah the Morashtite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah
king of Judah; and he spoke to all the people of Judah, saying:
Thus saith JEHOVAH of hosts: Zion shall be plowed as a field,
and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain
of the house as the high places of a forest.
19 Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death?
did he not fear JEHOVAH, and entreat the favour of JEHOVAH,
and JEHOVAH repented Him of the evil which He had pronounced
against them? Thus might we procure great evil against our own souls.’
20 And there was also a man that prophesied in the name of JEHOVAH,
Uriah the son of Shemaiah of Kiriath-jearim; and he prophesied
against this city and against this land according to
all the words of Jeremiah; 21 and when Jehoiakim the king,
with all his mighty men, and all the princes, heard his words,
the king sought to put him to death; but when Uriah heard it,
he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt; 22 and Jehoiakim the king
sent men into Egypt, Elnathan the son of Achbor,
and certain men with him, into Egypt; 23 and they fetched forth Uriah
out of Egypt, and brought him unto Jehoiakim the king;
who slew him with the sword, and cast his dead body
into the graves of the sons of the people.

24 Nevertheless the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah,
that they should not give him into the hand of the people
to put him to death. {P}

Job Chapter 32,1 So these three men ceased to answer Job, {N}

because he was righteous in his own eyes. {P}

2 Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram; {N}
against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.
3 Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, {N}
because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.
4 Now Elihu had waited to speak unto Job, because they were older than he.
5 And when Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, his wrath was kindled. {P}

6 And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said: {N}
I am young, and ye are very old; {N}
wherefore I held back, and durst not declare you mine opinion.
7 I said:
‘Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.’
8 But it is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty, that giveth them understanding.
9 It is not the great that are wise, nor the aged that discern judgment.
10 Therefore I say:
‘Hearken to me; I also will declare mine opinion.’
11 Behold, I waited for your words, I listened for your reasons, whilst ye searched out what to say.
12 Yea, I attended unto you, and, behold, there was none that convinced Job,
or that answered his words, among you.
13 Beware lest ye say:
‘We have found wisdom; God may vanquish him, not man!’
14 For he hath not directed his words against me; neither will I answer him with your speeches.
15 They are amazed, they answer no more; words are departed from them.
16 And shall I wait, because they speak not, because they stand still, and answer no more?
17 I also will answer my part, I also will declare mine opinion.
18 For I am full of words; the spirit within me constraineth me.
19 Behold, mine inwards are as wine which hath no vent; like new wine-skins which are ready to burst.
20 I will speak, that I may find relief; I will open my lips and answer.
21 Let me not, I pray you, respect any man’s person; neither will I give flattering titles unto any man.
22 For I know not to give flattering titles; else would my Maker soon take me away.

1 Thessalonians 2,1 For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain:

2 but even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi,
we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.
3 For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:
4 but as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak;
not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.
5 For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness;
God is witness: 6 nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others,
when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ. 7 But we were gentle among you,
even as a nurse cherisheth her children: 8 so being affectionately desirous of you,
we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls,
because ye were dear unto us. 9 For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail:
for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you,
we preached unto you the gospel of God. 10 Ye are witnesses, and God also,
how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:
11 as ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you,
as a father doth his children, 12 that ye would walk worthy of God,
who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory. 13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing,
because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men,
but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
14 For ye, brethren, became followers of the communities of God which in Judæa are in CHRIST JESUS:
for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:
15 who both killed the Lord JESUS, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us;
and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: 16 forbidding us to speak
to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway:
for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost. 17 But we, brethren,
being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly
to see your face with great desire. 18 Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul,
once and again; but Satan hindered us. 19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing?
Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord CHRIST JESUS at his coming? 20 For ye are our glory and joy.

Exodus Chapter 36,1 And Bezalel and Oholiab shall work,

and every wise-hearted man,
in whom JEHOVAH hath put wisdom and understanding
to know how to work all the work for the service of the sanctuary,
according to all that JEHOVAH hath commanded.’
2 And Moses called Bezalel and Oholiab,
and every wise-hearted man,
in whose heart JEHOVAH had put wisdom,
even every one whose heart stirred him up to come unto the work to do it.
3 And they received of Moses all the offering,
which the sons of Israel had brought for the work of the service of the sanctuary,
wherewith to make it.
And they brought yet unto him freewill-offerings every morning.
4 And all the wise men,
that wrought all the work of the sanctuary,
came every man from his work which they wrought.
5 And they spoke unto Moses, saying:
‘The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work,
which JEHOVAH commanded to make.’
6 And Moses gave commandment,
and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying:
‘Let neither man nor woman make any more work for the offering of the sanctuary.’
So the people were restrained from bringing.
7 For the stuff they had was sufficient for all the work to make it,
and too much. {S}
8 And every wise-hearted man among them that wrought the work
made the tabernacle with ten curtains: of fine twined linen,
and blue, and purple, and scarlet,
with cherubim the work of the skilful workman made he them.
9 The length of each curtain was eight and twenty cubits,
and the breadth of each curtain four cubits;
all the curtains had one measure.
10 And he coupled five curtains one to another;
and the other five curtains he coupled one to another.
11 And he made loops of blue upon the edge of the one curtain
that was outmost in the first set;
likewise he made in the edge of the curtain that was outmost in the second set.
12 Fifty loops made he in the one curtain,
and fifty loops made he in the edge of the curtain that was in the second set;
the loops were opposite one to another.
13 And he made fifty clasps of gold,
and coupled the curtains one to another with the clasps;
so the tabernacle was one. {P}

14 And he made curtains of goats’ hair for a tent over the tabernacle;
eleven curtains he made them.
15 The length of each curtain was thirty cubits,
and four cubits the breadth of each curtain;
the eleven curtains had one measure.
16 And he coupled five curtains by themselves,
and six curtains by themselves.
17 And he made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that was outmost in the first set,
and fifty loops made he upon the edge of the curtain which was outmost in the second set.
18 And he made fifty clasps of brass to couple the tent together,
that it might be one.
19 And he made a covering for the tent of rams’ skins dyed red,
and a covering of sealskins above. {S}
20 And he made the boards for the tabernacle of acacia-wood standing up.
21 Ten cubits was the length of a board,
and a cubit and a half the breadth of each board.
22 Each board had two tenons,
joined one to another.
Thus did he make for all the boards of the tabernacle.
23 And he made the boards for the tabernacle;
twenty boards for the south side southward.
24 And he made forty sockets of silver under the twenty boards:
two sockets under one board for its two tenons,
and two sockets under another board for its two tenons.
25 And for the second side of the tabernacle,
on the north side,
he made twenty boards,
26 and their forty sockets of silver:
two sockets under one board,
and two sockets under another board.
27 And for the hinder part of the tabernacle westward he made six boards.
28 And two boards made he for the corners of the tabernacle in the hinder part;
29 that they might be double beneath,
and in like manner they should be complete unto the top thereof unto the first ring.
Thus he did to both of them in the two corners.
30 And there were eight boards,
and their sockets of silver, sixteen sockets:
under every board two sockets.
31 And he made bars of acacia-wood:
five for the boards of the one side of the tabernacle,
32 and five bars for the boards of the other side of the tabernacle,
and five bars for the boards of the tabernacle for the hinder part westward.
33 And he made the middle bar to pass through
in the midst of the boards from the one end to the other.
34 And he overlaid the boards with gold,
and made their rings of gold for holders for the bars,
and overlaid the bars with gold.
35 And he made the veil of blue, and purple, and scarlet,
and fine twined linen;
with the cherubim the work of the skilful workman made he it.
36 And he made thereunto four pillars of acacia,
and overlaid them with gold,
their hooks being of gold;
and he cast for them four sockets of silver.
37 And he made a screen for the door of the Tent,
of blue, and purple, and scarlet,
and fine twined linen, the work of the weaver in colours;
38 and the five pillars of it with their hooks;
and he overlaid their capitals and their fillets with gold;
and their five sockets were of brass. {P}

Judges Chapter 12,1 And the men of Ephraim were gathered together,

and passed to Zaphon; and they said unto Jephthah:
‘Wherefore didst thou pass over to fight against the sons of Ammon,
and didst not call us to go with thee?
we will burn thy house upon thee with fire.’
2 And Jephthah said unto them:
‘I and my people were at great strife with the sons of Ammon;
and when I called you,
ye saved me not out of their hand.
3 And when I saw that ye saved me not,
I put my life in my hand,
and passed over against the sons of Ammon,
and JEHOVAH delivered them into my hand;
wherefore then are ye come up unto me this day,
to fight against me?’
4 Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead,
and fought with Ephraim;
and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim,
because they said:
‘Ye are fugitives of Ephraim, ye Gileadites,
in the midst of Ephraim, and in the midst of Manasseh.’
5 And the Gileadites took the fords of the Jordan against the Ephraimites;
and it was so, that when any of the fugitives of Ephraim said:
‘Let me go over,’
the men of Gilead said unto him:
‘Art thou an Ephraimite?’
If he said:
‘Nay’;
6 then said they unto him:
‘Say now Shibboleth’;
and he said
‘Sibboleth’;
for he could not frame to pronounce it right;
then they laid hold on him,
and slew him at the fords of the Jordan;
and there fell at that time of Ephraim forty and two thousand.
7 And Jephthah judged Israel six years.
Then died Jephthah the Gileadite,
and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead. {P}

8 And after him Ibzan of Beth-lehem judged Israel.
9 And he had thirty sons,
and thirty daughters he sent abroad,
and thirty daughters he brought in from abroad for his sons.
And he judged Israel seven years.
10 and Ibzan died, and was buried at Beth-lehem. {P}

11 And after him Elon the Zebulunite judged Israel;
and he judged Israel ten years.
12 And Elon the Zebulunite died,
and was buried in Aijalon in the land of Zebulun. {P}

13 And after him Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite judged Israel.
14 And he had forty sons and thirty sons’ sons,
that rode on threescore and ten ass colts;
and he judged Israel eight years.
15 And Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died,
and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim,
in the hill-country of the Amalekites. {P}

Psalms Chapter 36
1 For the Leader. [A Psalm] of David the servant of JEHOVAH.

2 Transgression speaketh to the wicked, methinks–

there is no fear of God before his eyes.
3 For it flattereth him in his eyes, until his iniquity be found, and he be hated.
4 The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit; he hath left off to be wise, to do good.
5 He deviseth iniquity upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil.
6 Thy lovingkindness, O JEHOVAH, is in the heavens; Thy faithfulness reacheth unto the skies.
7 Thy righteousness is like the mighty mountains; Thy judgments are like the great deep; man and beast Thou preservest, O JEHOVAH.
8 How precious is Thy lovingkindness, O God! and the sons of men take refuge in the shadow of Thy wings.
9 They are abundantly satisfied with the fatness of Thy house; and Thou makest them drink of the river of Thy pleasures.
10 For with Thee is the fountain of life; in Thy light do we see light.
11 O continue Thy lovingkindness unto them that know Thee; and Thy righteousness to the upright in heart.
12 Let not the foot of pride overtake me, and let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
13 There are the workers of iniquity fallen; they are thrust down, and are not able to rise. {P}

Mark 8,1 In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him,

and saith unto them,
2 I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:
3 and if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.
4 And his disciples answered him,
From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?
5 And he asked them,
How many loaves have ye?
And they said,
Seven.
6 And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake,
and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people. 7 And they had a few small fishes:
and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them. 8 So they did eat, and were filled:
and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets. 9 And they that had eaten were about four thousand:
and he sent them away.

10 And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.
11 And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.
12 And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith,
Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you,
There shall no sign be given unto this generation.
13 And he left them, and entering into the ship again departed to the other side.

14 Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.
15 And he charged them, saying,
Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.
16 And they reasoned among themselves, saying,
It is because we have no bread. 17 And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them,
Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?
18 Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?
19 When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up?
They say unto him,
Twelve.
20 And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up?
And they said,
Seven.
21 And he said unto them,
How is it that ye do not understand?
22 And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.
23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him,
he asked him if he saw ought. 24 And he looked up, and said,
I see men as trees, walking.
25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.
26 And he sent him away to his house, saying,
Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.

27 And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Cæsarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them,
Whom do men say that I am?
28 And they answered,
John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.
29 And he saith unto them,
But whom say ye that I am?
And Peter answereth and saith unto him,
Thou art the Christ.
30 And he charged them that they should tell no man of him. 31 And he began to teach them, that the son of man must suffer many things,
and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
32 And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him. 33 But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples,
he rebuked Peter, saying,
Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.
34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them,
Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it;
but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it. 36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world,
and lose his own soul? 37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? 38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words
in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

13 There are the workers of iniquity fallen; they are thrust down, and are not able to rise. {P}

34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them,
Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it;
but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.
