The Teaching

Numbers Chapter 18

1 And Jehovah said unto Aaron:

‘Thou and thy sons and thy fathers’ house with thee shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary; and thou and thy sons with thee shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood. 2 And thy brethren also, the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou near with thee, that they may be joined unto thee, and minister unto thee, thou and thy sons with thee being before the tent of the testimony. 3 And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the Tent; only they shall not come nigh unto the holy furniture and unto the altar, that they die not, neither they, nor ye. 4 And they shall be joined unto thee, and keep the charge of the tent of meeting, whatsoever the service of the Tent may be; but a common man shall not draw nigh unto you. 5 And ye shall keep the charge of the holy things, and the charge of the altar, that there be wrath no more upon the sons of Israel. 6 And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the sons of Israel; for you they are given as a gift unto Jehovah, to do the service of the tent of meeting. 7 And thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priesthood in everything that pertaineth to the altar, and to that within the veil; and ye shall serve; I give you the priesthood as a service of gift; and the common man that draweth nigh shall be put to death.’ {P}

8 And Jehovah spoke unto Aaron:

‘And I, behold, I have given thee the charge of My heave-offerings; even of all the hallowed things of the sons of Israel unto thee have I given them for a consecrated portion, and to thy sons, as a due for ever. 9 This shall be thine of the most holy things, reserved from the fire: every offering of theirs, even every meal-offering of theirs, and every sin-offering of theirs, and every guilt-offering of theirs, which they may render unto Me, shall be most holy for thee and for thy sons. 10 In a most holy place shalt thou eat thereof; every male may eat thereof; it shall be holy unto thee. 11 And this is thine: the heave-offering of their gift, even all the wave-offerings of the sons of Israel; I have given them unto thee, and to thy sons and to thy daughters with thee, as a due for ever; every one that is clean in thy house may eat thereof. 12 All the best of the oil, and all the best of the wine, and of the corn, the first part of them which they give unto Jehovah, to thee have I given them. 13 The first-ripe fruits of all that is in their land, which they bring unto Jehovah, shall be thine; every one that is clean in thy house may eat thereof. 14 Every thing devoted in Israel shall be thine. 15 Every thing that openeth the womb, of all flesh which they offer unto Jehovah, both of man and beast, shall be thine; howbeit the first-born of man shalt thou surely redeem, and the firstling of unclean beasts shalt thou redeem. 16 And their redemption-money–

from a month old shalt thou redeem them–

shall be, according to thy valuation, five shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary–

the same is twenty gerahs.

17 But the firstling of an ox, or the firstling of a sheep, or the firstling of a goat, thou shalt not redeem; they are holy: thou shalt dash their blood against the altar, and shalt make their fat smoke for an offering made by fire, for a sweet savour unto Jehovah. 18 And the flesh of them shall be thine, as the wave-breast and as the right thigh, it shall be thine. 19 All the heave-offerings of the holy things, which the sons of Israel offer unto Jehovah, have I given thee, and thy sons and thy daughters with thee, as a due for ever; it is an everlasting covenant of salt before Jehovah unto thee and to thy seed with thee.’ 20 And Jehovah said unto Aaron:

‘Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any portion among them; I am thy portion and thine inheritance among the sons of Israel. {S} 21 And unto the children of Levi, behold, I have given all the tithe in Israel for an inheritance, in return for their service which they serve, even the service of the tent of meeting. 22 And henceforth the sons of Israel shall not come nigh the tent of meeting, lest they bear sin, and die. 23 But the Levites alone shall do the service of the tent of meeting, and they shall bear their iniquity; it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations, and among the sons of Israel they shall have no inheritance. 24 For the tithe of the sons of Israel, which they set apart as a gift unto Jehovah, I have given to the Levites for an inheritance; therefore I have said unto them: Among the sons of Israel they shall have no inheritance.’ {P}

25 And Jehovah spoke unto Moses, saying:

26 ‘Moreover thou shalt speak unto the Levites, and say unto them: When ye take of the sons of Israel the tithe which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall set apart of it a gift for Jehovah, even a tithe of the tithe. 27 And the gift which ye set apart shall be reckoned unto you, as though it were the corn of the threshing-floor, and as the fulness of the wine-press. 28 Thus ye also shall set apart a gift unto Jehovah of all your tithes, which ye receive of the sons of Israel; and thereof ye shall give the gift which is set apart unto Jehovah to Aaron the priest. 29 Out of all that is given you ye shall set apart all of that which is due unto Jehovah, of all the best thereof, even the hallowed part thereof out of it. 30 Therefore thou shalt say unto them: When ye set apart the best thereof from it, then it shall be counted unto the Levites as the increase of the threshing-floor, and as the increase of the wine-press. 31 And ye may eat it in every place, ye and your households; for it is your reward in return for your service in the tent of meeting. 32 And ye shall bear no sin by reason of it, seeing that ye have set apart from it the best thereof; and ye shall not profane the holy things of the sons of Israel, that ye die not.’ {P}

The Preaching

2 Kings Chapter 13

1 In the three and twentieth year of Joash the son of Ahaziah, king of Judah, Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned seventeen years. 2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherewith he made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom. 3 And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Israel, and He delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Aram, and into the hand of Ben-hadad the son of Hazael, continually. 4 And Jehoahaz besought Jehovah, and Jehovah hearkened unto him; for He saw the oppression of Israel, how that the king of Aram oppressed them.–

5 And Jehovah gave Israel a deliverer, so that they went out from under the hand of the Arameans; and the sons of Israel dwelt in their tents, as beforetime. 6 Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, wherewith he made Israel to sin, but walked therein; and there remained the Asherah also in Samaria.–

7 For there was not left to Jehoahaz of the people save fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Aram destroyed them, and made them like the dust in threshing. 8 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 9 And Jehoahaz slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria; and Joash his son reigned in his stead. {P}

10 In the thirty and seventh year of Joash king of Judah began Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned sixteen years. 11 And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah; he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherewith he made Israel to sin; but he walked therein. 12 Now the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his might wherewith he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 13 And Joash slept with his fathers; and Jeroboam sat upon his throne; and Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel. {P}

14 Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he was to die; and Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over him, and said:

‘My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and the horsemen thereof!’

15 And Elisha said unto him:

‘Take bow and arrows’;

and he took unto him bow and arrows. 16 And he said to the king of Israel:

‘Put thy hand upon the bow’;

and he put his hand upon it. And Elisha laid his hands upon the king’s hands. 17 And he said:

‘Open the window eastward’;

and he opened it. Then Elisha said:

‘Shoot’;

and he shot. And he said:

‘Jehovah’s arrow of victory, even the arrow of victory against Aram; for thou shalt smite the Arameans in Aphek, till thou have consumed them.’

18 And he said:

‘Take the arrows’;

and he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel:

‘Smite upon the ground’;

and he smote thrice, and stayed. 19 And the man of God was wroth with him, and said:

‘Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Aram till thou hadst consumed it; whereas now thou shalt smite Aram but thrice.’ {P}

20 And Elisha died, and they buried him. Now the bands of the Moabites used to invade the land at the coming in of the year. 21 And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha; and as soon as the man touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet. {P}

22 And Hazael king of Aram oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz. 23 But Jehovah was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither hath He cast them from His presence until now. 24 And Hazael king of Aram died; and Ben-hadad his son reigned in his stead. 25 And Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Ben-hadad the son of Hazael the cities which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Three times did Joash smite him, and recovered the cities of Israel. {P}

The Writing

Psalms Chapter 135

1 Hallelujah. {N}
Praise ye the name of Jehovah; give praise, O ye servants of Jehovah,
2 Ye that stand in the house of Jehovah, in the courts of the house of our God.
3 Praise ye Jehovah, for Jehovah is good; sing praises unto His name, for it is pleasant.
4 For Jehovah hath chosen Jacob unto Himself, and Israel for His own treasure.
5 For I know that Jehovah is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.
6 Whatsoever Jehovah pleased, that hath He done, {N}
in heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps;
7 Who causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; {N}
He maketh lightnings for the rain; He bringeth forth the wind out of His treasuries.
8 Who smote the first-born of Egypt, both of man and beast.
9 He sent signs and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants.
10 Who smote many nations, and slew mighty kings:
11 Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan;
12 And gave their land for a heritage, a heritage unto Israel His people.
13 O Jehovah, Thy name endureth for ever; thy memorial, O Jehovah, throughout all generations.
14 For Jehovah will judge His people, and repent Himself for His servants.
15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.
16 They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;
17 They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths.
18 They that make them shall be like unto them; yea, every one that trusteth in them.
19 O house of Israel, bless ye Jehovah; O house of Aaron, bless ye Jehovah;
20 O house of Levi, bless ye Jehovah; ye that fear Jehovah, bless ye Jehovah.
21 Blessed be Jehovah out of Zion, who dwelleth at Jerusalem. Hallelujah. {P}

The Witness

Revelation 11

XI.

AND there was given to me a reed, like a staff; and the angel stood, saying,

Arise, measure the temple of Aloha, and the altar, and them who worship therein; and the court which is without the temple cast out,5 and do not measure it, because it is given to the Gentiles, and the holy city shall be trodden down, MONTHS FORTY AND TWO. And I will give my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy, DAYS A THOUSAND AND TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTY, clothed in sackcloth. These are the two olive (trees) and two candlesticks which before the Lord of the earth do stand. And if a man willeth to wound them, fire cometh forth from their mouth, and devoureth their adversaries. And if a man willeth to wound (them), thus must he be killed. These have power to shut heaven, that rain it may not rain in those days ;6 and power have they over the waters, to turn them into blood, and to smite the earth with every plague as many times as they will. And when they shall have completed their testimony, the beast of prey, which ascended from the abyss, will make war against them, and overcome them, [and kill them,7] and their dead bodies (will be) upon the wide street of the great city, which is called, spiritually, Sedum, and Metsreen, where also our Lord hath been crucified. And of the peoples and tribes and nations and tongues, seeing their dead bodies days three and a half, will not suffer them to be laid in the tomb. And they who dwell upon earth will rejoice over them and be gratified, and will send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented them who dwell upon earth.

And after those three days and a half, the spirit of life from Aloha entered into them, and they arose upon their feet. And great fear fell upon them who saw them. And they heard 8 a great voice from heaven, saying to them,

Ascend hither.

And they ascended to heaven in a cloud, and their adversaries beheld them. And in that hour there was a great movement; and one of ten of the city fell; and there were killed in the movement the names of men seven thousand. And they who were left were made afraid, and gave glory to Aloha.

That second woe hath passed. Behold, the third woe cometh quickly.

And the Seventh angel sounded. And there were voices and thunders, saying,

The kingdom of the world
Is of our Lord, and of his Meshiha;
And he will reign for ever and ever !

And the twenty and four presbyters who were before the throne of Aloha, who were sitting upon their thrones, fell upon their faces and worshipped, saying,

We give thanks to thee,
Lord God omnipotent,
Who art, and who wast;
Because thou hast taken thy great power,
And hast reigned.
And the nations were angry;
But thy wrath is come,
And the time of the dead,
That they should be avenged;
And to give reward to thy servants,
To the prophets, and to the saints,
And to them who fear thy Name,
To the small and to the great;
And to destroy them who have destroyed the earth.

And the temple of Aloha was opened in heaven; and there was seen the ark of his covenant in his temple. And there were lightnings, and thunderings, and voices, and movement, and great hail.
