Numbers Chapter 27

1 Then drew near the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph; and these are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah. 2 And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, at the door of the tent of meeting, saying:

3 ‘Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not among the company of them that gathered themselves together against Jehovah in the company of Korah, but he died in his own sin; and he had no sons. 4 Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he had no son? Give unto us a possession among the brethren of our father.’

5 And Moses brought their cause before Jehovah. {P}

6 And Jehovah spoke unto Moses, saying:

7 ‘The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them. 8 And thou shalt speak unto the sons of Israel, saying: If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter. 9 And if he have no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren. 10 And if he have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his father’s brethren. 11 And if his father have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it. And it shall be unto the sons of Israel a statute of judgment, as Jehovah commanded Moses.’ {P}

12 And Jehovah said unto Moses:

‘Get thee up into this mountain of Abarim, and behold the land which I have given unto the sons of Israel. 13 And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered; 14 because ye rebelled against My commandment in the wilderness of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify Me at the waters before their eyes.’–

These are the waters of Meribath-kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.– {S}

15 And Moses spoke unto Jehovah, saying:

16 ‘Let Jehovah God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation, 17 who may go out before them, and who may come in before them, and who may lead them out, and who may bring them in; that the congregation of Jehovah be not as sheep which have no shepherd.’

18 And Jehovah said unto Moses:

‘Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is spirit, and lay thy hand upon him; 19 and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight. 20 And thou shalt put of thy honour upon him, that all the congregation of the sons of Israel may hearken. 21 And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before Jehovah; at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the sons of Israel with him, even all the congregation.’

22 And Moses did as Jehovah commanded him; and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation. 23 And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as Jehovah spoke by the hand of Moses. {P}

The Preaching –

2 Kings Chapter 22

1 Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign; and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem; and his mother’s name was Jedidah the daughter of Adaiah of Bozkath. 2 And he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left. {P}

3 And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of Jehovah, saying.

4 ‘Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the money which is brought into the house of Jehovah, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people; 5 and let them deliver it into the hand of the workmen that have the oversight of the house of Jehovah; and let them give it to the workmen that are in the house of Jehovah, to repair the breaches of the house; 6 unto the carpenters, and to the builders, and to the masons; and for buying timber and hewn stone to repair the house.’–

7 Howbeit there was no reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand; for they dealt faithfully. 8 And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe:

‘I have found the book of the Law in the house of Jehovah.’

And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan, and he read it. 9 And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought back word unto the king, and said:

‘Thy servants have poured out the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of the workmen that have the oversight of the house of Jehovah.’

10 And Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying:

‘Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book.’

And Shaphan read it before the king. 11 And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the Law, that he rent his clothes. 12 And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Micaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king’s servant, saying: 13

‘Go ye, inquire of Jehovah for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found; for great is the wrath of Jehovah that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.’

14 So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asaiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe–

now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the second quarter–

and they spoke with her. 15 And she said unto them:

‘Thus saith Jehovah God of Israel: Tell ye the man that sent you unto me: 16 Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah hath read; 17 because they have forsaken Me, and have offered unto other gods, that they might provoke Me with all the work of their hands; therefore My wrath shall be kindled against this place, and it shall not be quenched. 18 But unto the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of Jehovah, thus shall ye say to him: Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: As touching the words which thou hast heard, 19 because thy heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before Jehovah, when thou heardest what I spoke against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become an astonishment and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before Me, I also have heard thee, saith Jehovah. 20 Therefore, behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil which I will bring upon this place.’

And they brought back word unto the king.

The Writing –

Psalms Chapter 144

1 [A Psalm] of David.

Blessed be Jehovah my Rock, who traineth my hands for war, {N}
and my fingers for battle;
2 My lovingkindness, and my fortress, my high tower, and my deliverer; {N}
my shield, and He in whom I take refuge; who subdueth my people under me.
3 Jehovah, what is man, that Thou takest knowledge of him? or the son of man, that Thou makest account of him?
4 Man is like unto a breath; his days are as a shadow that passeth away.
5 O Jehovah, bow Thy heavens, and come down; touch the mountains, that they may smoke.
6 Cast forth lightning, and scatter them; send out Thine arrows, and discomfit them.
7 Stretch forth Thy hands from on high; rescue me, and deliver me out of many waters, out of the hand of strangers;
8 Whose mouth speaketh falsehood, and their right hand is a right hand of lying.
9 O God, I will sing a new song unto Thee, upon a psaltery of ten strings will I sing praises unto Thee;
10 Who givest salvation unto kings, who rescuest David Thy servant from the hurtful sword.
11 Rescue me, and deliver me out of the hand of strangers, {N}
whose mouth speaketh falsehood, and their right hand is a right hand of lying.
12 We whose sons are as plants grown up in their youth; {N}
whose daughters are as corner-pillars carved after the fashion of a palace;
13 Whose garners are full, affording all manner of store; {N}
whose sheep increase by thousands and ten thousands in our fields;
14 Whose oxen are well laden; with no breach, and no going forth, and no outcry in our broad places;
15 Happy is the people that is in such a case. Yea, happy is the people whose God is Jehovah. {P}

The Witness

Revelation 20

AND I saw an angel descending from heaven, having the key of the abyss, and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold of the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the deceiver, and Satana, who seduced all the habitable world, and bound him a thousand years; and cast him into the abyss, and shut and sealed over him, that he should no more seduce the nations, until the thousand years be completed: but after them he will be loosed a little time.

And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given to them; and to the souls of them who had been cut asunder for the sake of the testimony of Jeshu, and for the word of Aloha, and them who had not worshipped the beast of prey nor his image, nor received his signature upon their forehead and upon their hands. And they lived and reigned with their Meshiha the thousand years.

This is the first resurrection.

Blessed and holy is he who hath part in the first resurrection: upon them the second death hath not power; but they shall be priests of Aloha and of his Meshiha, and shall reign with him the thousand years.

And when the thousand years shall be fulfilled, Satana will be loosed from the place of his keeping, and will go forth and seduce the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gug and Mogug, to gather them to war, of whom the number is as the sand of the sea.

And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and surrounded the camp of the saints, and the beloved city; and fire descended from Aloha from heaven, and devoured them. And the accuser who seduced them was cast into the lake of fire and of sulphur, as was also the beast of prey and the false prophet; and they will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

And I saw a great white throne, and Him who sat thereon, from whom from his face fled earth and heaven; and place (as) to this was not found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne; and the books were opened; and another book was opened, which is (the Book) of Life. And the dead were judged from the (records) which are written in the books according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and shiul gave up the dead which were in them. And they were judged every one according to their works. And death and shiul were cast into the lake of fire, which is the second death. And if a man was not found written in the Book of Life, he was cast into the lake of fire.
