The March 16 Bible

Part I. Leviticus

11,6 And the hare, because she cheweth the cud but parteth not the hoof, she is unclean unto you.

11,7 And the swine, because he parteth the hoof, and is cloven-footed, but cheweth not the cud, he is unclean unto you.

11,8 Of their flesh ye shall not eat, and their carcasses ye shall not touch; they are unclean unto you.

11,9 These may ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them may ye eat.

11,10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that swarm in the waters, and of all the living creatures that are in the waters, they are a detestable thing unto you,

11,11 and they shall be a detestable thing unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, and their carcasses ye shall have in detestation.

11,12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that is a detestable thing unto you.

11,13 And these ye shall have in detestation among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are a detestable thing: the great vulture, and the bearded vulture, and the ospray;

11,14 and the kite, and the falcon after its kinds;

11,15 every raven after its kinds;

11,16 and the ostrich, and the night-hawk, and the sea-mew, and the hawk after its kinds;

11,17 and the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl;

11,18 and the horned owl, and the pelican, and the carrion-vulture;

11,19 and the stork, and the heron after its kinds, and the hoopoe, and the bat.

11,20 All winged swarming things that go upon all fours are a detestable thing unto you.

11,21 Yet these may ye eat of all winged swarming things that go upon all fours, which have jointed legs above their feet, wherewith to leap upon the earth;

Part II. Samuel

1 22,10 And he inquired of the LORD for him, and gave him victuals, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.’

1 22,11 Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father’s house, the priests that were in Nob; and they came all of them to the king. {S}

1 22,12 And Saul said:

‘Hear now, thou son of Ahitub.’

And he answered:

‘Here I am, my lord.’

1 22,13 And Saul said unto him:

‘Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in that thou hast given him bread, and a sword, and hast inquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?’ {S}

1 22,14 Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said:

‘And who among all thy servants is so trusted as David, who is the king’s son-in-law, and giveth heed unto thy bidding, and is honourable in thy house?

1 22,15 Have I to-day begun to inquire of God for him? be it far from me; let not the king impute any thing unto his servant, nor to all the house of my father; for thy servant knoweth nothing of all this, less or more.’

1 22,16 And the king said:

‘Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou, and all thy father’s house.’

1 22,17 And the king said unto the guard that stood about him:

‘Turn, and slay the priests of the LORD; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew that he fled, and did not disclose it to me.’

But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD. {S}

1 22,18 And the king said to Doeg:

‘Turn thou, and fall upon the priests.’

And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and he slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.

1 22,19 And Nob, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen and asses and sheep, with the edge of the sword.

1 22,20 And one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David.

1 22,21 And Abiathar told David that Saul had slain the LORD’S priests.

1 22,22 And David said unto Abiathar:

‘I knew on that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul; I have brought about the death of all the persons of thy father’s house.

1 22,23 Abide thou with me, fear not; for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life; for with me thou shalt be in safeguard.’ {S}

1 23,1 And they told David, saying:

‘Behold, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah, and they rob the threshing-floors.’

1 23,2 Therefore David inquired of the LORD, saying:

‘Shall I go and smite these Philistines?’ {S}

And the LORD said unto David:

‘Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.’

1 23,3 And David’s men said unto him:

‘Behold, we are afraid here in Judah; how much more then if we go to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?’ {S}

1 23,4 Then David inquired of the LORD yet again. And the LORD answered him and said:

‘Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thy hand.’

1 23,5 And David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and slew them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah. {S}

1 23,6 And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.

1 23,7 And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said:

‘God hath delivered him into my hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars.’

1 23,8 And Saul summoned all the people to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.

1 23,9 And David knew that Saul devised mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest:

‘Bring hither the ephod.’ {S}

1 23,10 Then said David:

‘O LORD, the God of Israel, Thy servant hath surely heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake.

1 23,11 Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as Thy servant hath heard?’

O LORD, the God of Israel, I beseech Thee, tell Thy servant.’ {S}

And the LORD said:

‘He will come down.’ {S}

Part III. Psalms

86,5 For Thou, Lord, art good, and ready to pardon, and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon Thee.

86,6 Give ear, O LORD, unto my prayer; and attend unto the voice of my supplications.

86,7 In the day of my trouble I call upon Thee; for Thou wilt answer me.

86,8 There is none like unto Thee among the gods, O Lord, and there are no works like Thine.

86,9 All nations whom Thou hast made shall come and prostrate themselves before Thee, O Lord; and they shall glorify Thy name.

86,10 For Thou art great, and doest wondrous things; Thou art God alone.

86,11 Teach me, O LORD, Thy way, that I may walk in Thy truth; {N}

make one my heart to fear Thy name.

86,12 I will thank Thee, O Lord my God, with my whole heart; and I will glorify Thy name for evermore.

86,13 For great is Thy mercy toward me; and Thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest nether-world.

86,14 O God, the proud are risen up against me, and the company of violent men have sought after my soul, {N}

and have not set Thee before them.

86,15 But Thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy and truth.

86,16 O turn unto me, and be gracious unto me; give Thy strength unto Thy servant, and save the son of Thy handmaid.

86,17 Work in my behalf a sign for good; {N}

that they that hate me may see it, and be put to shame, because Thou, LORD, hast helped me, and comforted me. {P}

87,1 A Psalm of the sons of Korah; a Song. His foundation is in the holy mountains.

87,2 The LORD loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.

87,3 Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God.

87,4 ‘I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon as among them that know Me; {N}

behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia; this one was born there.’

87,5 But of Zion it shall be said:

‘This man and that was born in her; {N}

and the Most High Himself doth establish her.’

87,6 The LORD shall count in the register of the peoples:

‘This one was born there.’

Part IV. Mark 12

32 The Scribe said to him:

Excellently ! Rabbi; thou hast spoken the truth; for he is one [God], and there is no other beside him.

33 And for a man to love him, with all the heart, and with all the mind, and with all the soul, and with all the might; and to love his neighbor, as himself; is better than all holocausts and sacrifices.

34 And Jesus perceived that he replied wisely; and he answered, and said to him:

Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no one dared again to question him.

35 And as Jesus was teaching in the temple, he answered and said:

How can the Scribes say, that Messiah is the son of David ?

36 For David himself saith, by the spirit of holiness: The Lord said to my Lord; Seat thyself on my right hand, until I place thy enemies as a footstool beneath thy feet.

37 David therefore calleth him "My Lord ;" and how is he his son ?

And all the multitude heard him with pleasure.

38 And he said to them in his teaching :

Beware of the Scribes, who choose to walk in long robes, and love the salutation in the streets,

39 and the chief seats in the synagogues, and the chief couches at feasts.

40 They devour the houses of widows, under pretence that they prolong their prayers. These shall receive a greater condemnation.

41 And as Jesus sat over against the treasury-room, he saw how the multitude cast money into the treasury. And many rich ones cast in much.

42 And a poor widow came, and cast in two mites, which are a brass farthing.

43 And Jesus called his disciples, and said to them:

Verily I say to you, That this poor widow hath cast into the treasury more than all they that cast in.

44 For they all cast in of that which abounded to them, but she, of her poverty, hath cast in all that she possessed, the whole of her property.

The Annunciation of Mark – Chapter 13

1 And as Jesus retired from the temple, one of his disciples said to him:

Teacher; behold; see these stones, and these structures !

2 And Jesus said to him:

Admirest thou these great structures ? There will not be left here one stone upon another, not demolished.

3 And as Jesus was sitting on the mount of Olives, over against the temple, Cephas and James and John and Andrew asked him, privately:

4 Tell us, when will these things be? and what [will be] the sign that these things approach their consummation ?

5 And Jesus began to say to them Beware, that no one mislead you:

6 for many will come in my name, and will say:

I am he. And they will mislead many.

7 But when ye shall hear of battles, and the rumor of battles, be not afraid; for this must be; but the end is not yet.

8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be earthquakes in several places, and there will be famines and insurrections. These are the beginning of sorrows.

Praise ye the name, JESUSbible3

135,1 Hallelujah. {N}
Praise ye the name of the LORD; give praise, O ye servants of the LORD,

135,2 Ye that stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God.

135,3 Praise ye the LORD, for the LORD is good; sing praises unto His name, for it is pleasant.

135,4 For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto Himself, and Israel for His own treasure.

135,5 For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.

135,6 Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that hath He done, {N}
in heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps;

135,7 Who causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; {N}
He maketh lightnings for the rain; He bringeth forth the wind out of His treasuries.

135,8 Who smote the first-born of Egypt, both of man and beast.

135,9 He sent signs and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants.

135,10 Who smote many nations, and slew mighty kings:

135,11 Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan;

135,12 And gave their land for a heritage, a heritage unto Israel His people.

135,13 O LORD, Thy name endureth for ever; thy memorial, O LORD, throughout all generations.

135,14 For the LORD will judge His people, and repent Himself for His servants.

135,15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

135,16 They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;

135,17 They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths.

135,18 They that make them shall be like unto them; yea, every one that trusteth in them.

135,19 O house of Israel, bless ye the LORD; O house of Aaron, bless ye the LORD;

135,20 O house of Levi, bless ye the LORD; ye that fear the LORD, bless ye the LORD.

135,21 Blessed be the LORD out of Zion, who dwelleth at Jerusalem. Hallelujah. {P}
