The September 26 Bible

Part I Numbers

20,6 And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tent of meeting, and fell upon their faces; and the glory of the LORD appeared unto them. {P}

20,7 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying:

20,8 ‘Take the rod, and assemble the congregation, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes, that it give forth its water; and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock; so thou shalt give the congregation and their cattle drink.’

20,9 And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as He commanded him.

20,10 And Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said unto them:

‘Hear now, ye rebels; are we to bring you forth water out of this rock?’

20,11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and smote the rock with his rod twice; and water came forth abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their cattle. {S}

20,12 And the LORD said unto Moses and Aaron:

‘Because ye believed not in Me, to sanctify Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.’

20,13 These are the waters of Meribah, where the children of Israel strove with the LORD, and He was sanctified in them. {S}

20,14 And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom:

‘Thus saith thy brother Israel:

Thou knowest all the travail that hath befallen us;

20,15 how our fathers went down into Egypt, and we dwelt in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians dealt ill with us, and our fathers;

20,16 and when we cried unto the LORD, He heard our voice, and sent an angel, and brought us forth out of Egypt; and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border.

20,17 Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy land; we will not pass through field or through vineyard, neither will we drink of the water of the wells; we will go along the king’s highway, we will not turn aside to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy border.’

20,18 And Edom said unto him:

‘Thou shalt not pass through me, lest I come out with the sword against thee.’

20,19 And the children of Israel said unto him:

‘We will go up by the highway; and if we drink of thy water, I and my cattle, then will I give the price thereof; let me only pass through on my feet; there is no hurt.’

20,20 And he said:

‘Thou shalt not pass through.’

And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.

20,21 Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border; wherefore Israel turned away from him. {P}

20,22 And they journeyed from Kadesh; and the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came unto mount Hor.

Part II Jeremiah

44,20 Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, even to all the people that had given him that answer, saying:

44,21 ‘The offering that ye offered in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye and your fathers, your kings and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into His mind?

44,22 So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land become a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.

44,23 Because ye have offered, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not hearkened to the voice of the LORD, nor walked in His law, nor in His statutes, nor in His testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.’ {S}

44,24 Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women:

‘Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt:

44,25 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying:

Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and with your hands have fulfilled it, saying:

We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to offer to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink-offerings unto her; ye shall surely establish your vows, and surely perform your vows. {S}

44,26 Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt:

Behold, I have sworn by My great name, saith the LORD, that My name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt saying:

As the Lord GOD liveth.

44,27 Behold, I watch over them for evil, and not for good; and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.

44,28 And they that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, few in number; and all the remnant of Judah, that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose word shall stand, Mine, or theirs.

44,29 And this shall be the sign unto you, saith the LORD, that I will punish you in this place, that ye may know that My words shall surely stand against you for evil; {P}

44,30 thus saith the LORD:

Behold, I will give Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of them that seek his life; as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, his enemy, and that sought his life.’ {S}

45,1 The word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke unto Baruch the son of Neriah, when he wrote these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying:

45,2 ‘Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning thee, O Baruch:

Thou didst say:

45,3 Woe is me now! for the LORD hath added sorrow to my pain; I am weary with my groaning, and I find no rest.

45,4 Thus shalt thou say unto him:

Thus saith the LORD:

Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up; and this in the whole land.

45,5 And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not; for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the LORD; but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.’ {P}

46,1 The word of the LORD which came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the nations.

46,2 Of Egypt:

concerning the army of Pharaoh-neco king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates in Carchemish, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon smote in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah.

46,3 Make ready buckler and shield, and draw near to battle.

46,4 Harness the horses, and mount, ye horsemen, and stand forth with your helmets; furbish the spears, put on the coats of mail.

46,5 Wherefore do I see them dismayed and turned backward? and their mighty ones are beaten down, and they are fled apace, and look not back; terror is on every side, saith the LORD.

46,6 The swift cannot flee away, nor the mighty man escape; in the north by the river Euphrates have they stumbled and fallen.

46,7 Who is this like the Nile that riseth up, like the rivers whose waters toss themselves?

46,8 Egypt is like the Nile that riseth up, and like the rivers whose waters toss themselves; and he saith:

‘I will rise up, I will cover the earth, I will destroy the city and the inhabitants thereof.’

46,9 Prance, ye horses, and rush madly, ye chariots; and let the mighty men go forth:

Cush and Put, that handle the shield, and the Ludim, that handle and bend the bow.

46,10 For the Lord GOD of hosts shall have on that day a day of vengeance, that He may avenge Him of His adversaries; and the sword shall devour and be satiate, and shall be made drunk with their blood; for the Lord GOD of hosts hath a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.

Part III Daniel

6,26 Then king Darius wrote unto all the peoples, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth: ‘Peace be multiplied unto you.

6,27 I make a decree, that in all the dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel; for He is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and His kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and His dominion shall be even unto the end;

6,28 He delivereth and rescueth, and He worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth; who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.’

6,29 So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian. {P}

7,1 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed; then he wrote the dream and told the sum of the matters.

7,2 Daniel spoke and said:

I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven broke forth upon the great sea.

7,3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.

7,4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings; I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked off, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon two feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.

7,5 And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth; and it was said thus unto it:

‘Arise, devour much flesh.’

7,6 After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the sides of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.

7,7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth; it devoured and broke in pieces, and stamped the residue with its feet; and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.

7,8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another horn, a little one, before which three of the first horns were plucked up by the roots; and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking great things.

7,9 I beheld till thrones were placed, and one that was ancient of days did sit:

his raiment was as white snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; his throne was fiery flames, and the wheels thereof burning fire.

7,10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him; thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him; the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

7,11 I beheld at that time because of the voice of the great words which the horn spoke, I beheld even till the beast was slain, and its body destroyed, and it was given to be burned with fire.

7,12 And as for the rest of the beasts, their dominion was taken away; yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.

7,13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, there came with the clouds of heaven one like unto a son of man, and he came even to the Ancient of days, and he was brought near before Him.

7,14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. {P}

7,15 As for me Daniel, my spirit was pained in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head affrighted me.

7,16 I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth concerning all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things:

7,17 ‘These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, that shall arise out of the earth. 7,18 But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.’

Part IV The Epistle of John the Legate – Chapter 1

܀ ܐܓܪܬܐ ܕܝܘܚܢܢ ܀

5 And this is the announcement, which we have heard from him and declare to you, that God is light, and no darkness at all is in him.

6 And if we say that we have fellowship with him, and we walk in the darkness, we are liars, and walk not in the truth.

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with each other and the blood of Jesus his son cleanseth us from all our sins.

8 And if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous, to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all our iniquity.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not with us.

The Epistle of John the Legate – Chapter 2

܀ ܐܓܪܬܐ ܕܝܘܚܢܢ ܀

1 My children, these things I write to you, that ye sin not. But if any one should sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus the Messiah, the righteous.

2 For he is himself the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for all the world.

3 And by this we shall be sensible that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

4 For he that saith, I know him, and doth not keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

5 But he that keepeth his word, in him is the love of God truly completed:

for by this we know that we are in him.

I Called Unto Jehovah and He Answered Me

“Make known His doings.” JESUSbible3/Chronicles/Judith

1 16,1 And they brought in the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it, and they offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings before God.

1 16,2 And when David had made an end of offering the burnt-offering and the peace-offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.

1 16,3 And he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a cake made in a pan, and a sweet cake.

1 16,4 And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, and to celebrate and to thank and praise the LORD, the God of Israel: {S}

1 16,5 Asaph the chief, and second to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obed-edom, and Jeiel, with psalteries and with harps; and Asaph with cymbals, sounding aloud;

1 16,6 and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually, before the ark of the covenant of God.

1 16,7 Then on that day did David first ordain to give thanks unto the LORD, by the hand of Asaph and his brethren. {P}

1 16,8 O give thanks unto the LORD, call upon His name; make known His doings among the peoples.
1 16,9 Sing unto Him, sing praises unto Him; speak ye of all His marvellous works.
1 16,10 Glory ye in His holy name; let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.
1 16,11 Seek ye the LORD and His strength; seek His face continually.
1 16,12 Remember His marvellous works that He hath done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth;
1 16,13 O ye seed of Israel His servant, ye children of Jacob, His chosen ones.
1 16,14 He is the LORD our God; His judgments are in all the earth.
1 16,15 Remember His covenant for ever, the word which He commanded to a thousand generations;
1 16,16 [The covenant] which He made with Abraham, and His oath unto Isaac;
1 16,17 And He established it unto Jacob for a statute, to Israel for an everlasting covenant;
1 16,18 Saying:
‘Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance.’
1 16,19 When ye were but a few men in number, yea, very few, and sojourners in it,
1 16,20 And when they went about from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people,
1 16,21 He suffered no man to do them wrong, yea, for their sake He reproved kings:
1 16,22 ‘Touch not Mine anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm.’ {P}
1 16,23 Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; proclaim His salvation from day to day.
1 16,24 Declare His glory among the nations, His marvellous works among all the peoples.
1 16,25 For great is the LORD, and highly to be praised; He also is to be feared above all gods.
1 16,26 For all the gods of the peoples are things of nought; but the LORD made the heavens.
1 16,27 Honour and majesty are before Him; strength and gladness are in His place.
1 16,28 Ascribe unto the LORD, ye kindreds of the peoples, ascribe unto the LORD glory and strength.
1 16,29 Ascribe unto the LORD the glory due unto His name; bring an offering, and come before Him; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
1 16,30 Tremble before Him, all the earth; the world also is established that it cannot be moved.
1 16,31 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; and let them say among the nations:
‘The LORD reigneth.’
1 16,32 Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; let the field exult, and all that is therein;
1 16,33 Then shall the trees of the wood sing for joy, before the LORD, for He is come to judge the earth.
1 16,34 O give thanks unto the LORD; for He is good; for His mercy endureth for ever.
1 16,35 And say ye:
‘Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks unto Thy holy name, that we may triumph in Thy praise.’
1 16,36 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting even to everlasting. And all the people said:
‘Amen,’
and praised the LORD. {P}

1 16,37 So he left there, before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day’s work required;

1 16,38 and Obed-edom with their brethren, threescore and eight; {S} Obed-edom also the son of Jedithun and Hosah to be door-keepers;

1 16,39 and Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that was at Gibeon,

1 16,40 to offer burnt-offerings unto the LORD upon the altar of burnt-offering continually morning and evening, even according to all that is written in the Law of the LORD, which He commanded unto Israel;

1 16,41 and with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were mentioned by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because His mercy endureth for ever;

1 16,42 and with them Heman and Jeduthun, to sound aloud with trumpets and cymbals, and with instruments for the songs of God; and the sons of Jeduthun to be at the gate.

1 16,43 And all the people departed every man to his house; and David returned to bless his house. {P}

Judith
Chapter 2

1 And in the eighteenth year, the two and twentieth day of the first month, there was talk in the house of Nabuchodonosor king of the Assyrians that he should, as he said, avenge himself on all the earth.
2 So he called unto him all his officers, and all his nobles, and communicated with them his secret counsel, and concluded the afflicting of the whole earth out of his own mouth.
3 Then they decreed to destroy all flesh, that did not obey the commandment of his mouth.
4 And when he had ended his counsel, Nabuchodonosor king of the Assyrians called Holofernes the chief captain of his army, which was next unto him, and said unto him.
5 Thus saith the great king, the lord of the whole earth, Behold, thou shalt go forth from my presence, and take with thee men that trust in their own strength, of footmen an hundred and twenty thousand; and the number of horses with their riders twelve thousand.
6 And thou shalt go against all the west country, because they disobeyed my commandment.
7 And thou shalt declare unto that they prepare for me earth and water: for I will go forth in my wrath against them and will cover the whole face of the earth with the feet of mine army, and I will give them for a spoil unto them:
8 So that their slain shall fill their valleys and brooks and the river shall be filled with their dead, till it overflow:
9 And I will lead them captives to the utmost parts of all the earth.
10 Thou therefore shalt go forth. and take beforehand for me all their coasts: and if they will yield themselves unto thee, thou shalt reserve them for me till the day of their punishment.
11 But concerning them that rebel, let not thine eye spare them; but put them to the slaughter, and spoil them wheresoever thou goest.
12 For as I live, and by the power of my kingdom, whatsoever I have spoken, that will I do by mine hand.
13 And take thou heed that thou transgress none of the commandments of thy lord, but accomplish them fully, as I have commanded thee, and defer not to do them.
14 Then Holofernes went forth from the presence of his lord, and called all the governors and captains, and the officers of the army of Assur;
15 And he mustered the chosen men for the battle, as his lord had commanded him, unto an hundred and twenty thousand, and twelve thousand archers on horseback;
16 And he ranged them, as a great army is ordered for the war.
17 And he took camels and asses for their carriages, a very great number; and sheep and oxen and goats without number for their provision:
18 And plenty of victual for every man of the army, and very much gold and silver out of the king’s house.
19 Then he went forth and all his power to go before king Nabuchodonosor in the voyage, and to cover all the face of the earth westward with their chariots, and horsemen, and their chosen footmen.
20 A great number also sundry countries came with them like locusts, and like the sand of the earth: for the multitude was without number.
21 And they went forth of Nineve three days’ journey toward the plain of Bectileth, and pitched from Bectileth near the mountain which is at the left hand of the upper Cilicia.
22 Then he took all his army, his footmen, and horsemen and chariots, and went from thence into the hill country;
23 And destroyed Phud and Lud, and spoiled all the children of Rasses, and the children of Israel, which were toward the wilderness at the south of the land of the Chellians.
24 Then he went over Euphrates, and went through Mesopotamia, and destroyed all the high cities that were upon the river Arbonai, till ye come to the sea.
25 And he took the borders of Cilicia, and killed all that resisted him, and came to the borders of Japheth, which were toward the south, over against Arabia.
26 He compassed also all the children of Madian, and burned up their tabernacles, and spoiled their sheepcotes.
27 Then he went down into the plain of Damascus in the time of wheat harvest, and burnt up all their fields, and destroyed their flocks and herds, also he spoiled their cities, and utterly wasted their countries, and smote all their young men with the edge of the sword.
28 Therefore the fear and dread of him fell upon all the inhabitants of the sea coasts, which were in Sidon and Tyrus, and them that dwelt in Sur and Ocina, and all that dwelt in Jemnaan; and they that dwelt in Azotus and Ascalon feared him greatly.
