Psalms 51 My Mouth Shall Declare Thy Praise*

For the Leader. A Psalm of David;

When Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bath-sheba.

Be gracious unto me, O God, according to Thy mercy; according to the multitude of Thy compassions blot out my transgressions.

My Mouth Shall Declare Thy Praise*

Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

My Mouth Shall Declare Thy Praise*

For I know my transgressions; and my sin is ever before me.

My Mouth Shall Declare Thy Praise*

Against Thee, Thee only, have I sinned, and done that which is evil in Thy sight; {N}

that Thou mayest be justified when Thou speakest, and be in the right when Thou judgest.

My Mouth Shall Declare Thy Praise*

Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

My Mouth Shall Declare Thy Praise*

Behold, Thou desirest truth in the inward parts; make me, therefore, to know wisdom in mine inmost heart.

My Mouth Shall Declare Thy Praise*

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

My Mouth Shall Declare Thy Praise*

Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which Thou hast crushed may rejoice.

My Mouth Shall Declare Thy Praise*

Hide Thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

My Mouth Shall Declare Thy Praise*

Create me a clean heart, O God; and renew a stedfast spirit within me.

My Mouth Shall Declare Thy Praise*

Cast me not away from Thy presence; and take not Thy holy spirit from me.

My Mouth Shall Declare Thy Praise*

Restore unto me the joy of Thy yeshua; and let a willing spirit uphold me.

My Mouth Shall Declare Thy Praise*

Then will I teach transgressors Thy ways; and sinners shall return unto Thee.

My Mouth Shall Declare Thy Praise*

Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, Thou God of my yeshua; {N}

so shall my tongue sing aloud of Thy righteousness.

My Mouth Shall Declare Thy Praise*

My Lord, open Thou my lips; and my mouth shall declare Thy praise.

My Mouth Shall Declare Thy Praise*

For Thou delightest not in sacrifice, else would I give it; Thou hast no pleasure in burnt-offering.

My Mouth Shall Declare Thy Praise*

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; {N}

a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise.

My Mouth Shall Declare Thy Praise*

Do good in Thy favour unto Zion; build Thou the walls of Jerusalem.

My Mouth Shall Declare Thy Praise*

כא אָז תַּחְפֹּץ זִבְחֵי-צֶדֶק, עוֹלָה וְכָלִיל;

Then wilt Thou delight in the sacrifices of righteousness, in burnt-offering and whole offering; {N}

then will they offer bullocks upon Thine altar. {P}

My Mouth Shall Declare Thy Praise*

Chapter 52 *I Will Wait for Thy Name*

For the Leader. Maschil of David;

when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, {N}

and said unto him:

‘David is come to the house of Ahimelech.’

Why boastest thou thyself of evil, O mighty man? The mercy of God endureth continually.

||:I Will Wait for Thy Name:||

Thy tongue deviseth destruction; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

||:I Will Wait for Thy Name:||

Thou lovest evil more than good; falsehood rather than speaking righteousness.

||:I Will Wait for Thy Name:||

[Selah]

Thou lovest all devouring words, the deceitful tongue.

*I Will Wait for Thy Name*

God will likewise break thee for ever, {N}

He will take thee up, and pluck thee out of thy tent, and root thee out of the land of the living.

*I Will Wait for Thy Name*

[Selah]

The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:

*I Will Wait for Thy Name*

‘Lo, this is the man that made not God his stronghold; {N}

but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.’

*I Will Wait for Thy Name*

י וַאֲנִי, כְּזַיִת רַעֲנָן– בְּבֵית אֱלֹהִים;

But as for me, I am like a leafy olive-tree in the house of God; {N}

I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.

*I Will Wait for Thy Name*

I will give Thee thanks for ever, because Thou hast done it; and I will wait for Thy name, for it is good, in the presence of Thy saints. {P}

Psalms 53 *GOD turneth the Captivity of His People*

For the Leader; upon Mahalath. Maschil of David.

ב אָמַר נָבָל בְּלִבּוֹ, אֵין אֱלֹהִים;

The fool hath said in his heart:

‘There is no God’; {N}

they have dealt corruptly, and have done abominable iniquity; there is none that doeth good.

*GOD turneth the Captivity of His People*

God looked forth from heaven upon the children of men, {N}

to see if there were any man of understanding, that did seek after God.

*GOD turneth the Captivity of His People*

Every one of them is unclean, they are together become impure; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

*GOD turneth the Captivity of His People*

‘Shall not the workers of iniquity know it, who eat up My people as they eat bread, and call not upon God?’

*GOD turneth the Captivity of His People*

There are they in great fear, where no fear was; {N}

for God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee; Thou hast put them to shame, because God hath rejected them.

*GOD turneth the Captivity of His People*

Oh that the yeshua of Israel were come out of Zion! {N}

When God turneth the captivity of His people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad. {P}

Chapter 54 *My Lord is For Me The Upholder of My Soul*

For the Leader; with string-music. Maschil of David:

when the Ziphites came and said to Saul:

‘Doth not David hide himself with us?’

O God, save me by Thy name, and right me by Thy might.

||:My Lord is For Me The Upholder of My Soul:||

O God, hear my prayer; give ear to the words of my mouth.

||:My Lord is For Me The Upholder of My Soul:||

ה כִּי זָרִים, קָמוּ עָלַי– וְעָרִיצִים, בִּקְשׁוּ נַפְשִׁי;

For strangers are risen up against me, and violent men have sought after my soul; {N}

they have not set God before them.

||:My Lord is For Me The Upholder of My Soul:||

[Selah]

Behold, God is my helper; my Lord is for me as the upholder of my soul.

||:My Lord is For Me The Upholder of My Soul:||

He will requite the evil unto them that lie in wait for me; destroy Thou them in Thy truth.

||:My Lord is For Me The Upholder of My Soul:||

With a freewill-offering will I sacrifice unto Thee; I will give thanks unto Thy name, O LORD, for it is good.

||:My Lord is For Me The Upholder of My Soul:||

For He hath delivered me out of all trouble; and mine eye hath gazed upon mine enemies. {P}

||:My Lord is For Me The Upholder of My Soul:||

For the Leader; with string-music. Maschil of David.

Give ear, O God, to my prayer; and hide not Thyself from my supplication.

*I Will Call Upon God and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

Attend unto me, and hear me; I am distraught in my complaint, and will moan;

*I Will Call Upon God and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked; for they cast mischief upon me, and in anger they persecute me.

*I Will Call Upon God and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

My heart doth writhe within me; and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.

*I Will Call Upon God and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

Fear and trembling come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.

*I Will Call Upon God and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

And I said:

‘Oh that I had wings like a dove! then would I fly away, and be at rest.

*I Will Call Upon God and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

Lo, then would I wander far off, I would lodge in the wilderness.

*I Will Call Upon God and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

[Selah]

I would haste me to a shelter from the stormy wind and tempest.’

*I Will Call Upon God and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

Destroy, my Lord, and divide their tongue; for I have seen violence and strife in the city.

*I Will Call Upon God and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof; iniquity also and mischief are in the midst of it.

*I Will Call Upon God and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

Wickedness is in the midst thereof; oppression and guile depart not from her broad place.

*I Will Call Upon God and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

For it was not an enemy that taunted me, then I could have borne it; {N}

neither was it mine adversary that did magnify himself against me, then I would have hid myself from him.

*I Will Call Upon God and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

But it was thou, a man mine equal, my companion, and my familiar friend;

*I Will Call Upon God and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

We took sweet counsel together, in the house of God we walked with the throng.

*I Will Call Upon God and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

May He incite death against them, let them go down alive into the nether-world; for evil is in their dwelling, and within them.

*I Will Call Upon God and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me.

*I Will Call Upon God and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I complain, and moan; and He hath heard my voice.

*I Will Call Upon God and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

He hath redeemed my soul in peace so that none came nigh me; for they were many that strove with me.

*I Will Call Upon God; and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

God shall hear, and humble them, even He that is enthroned of old,

[Selah] {N}

such as have no changes, and fear not God.

*I Will Call Upon God; and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

He hath put forth his hands against them that were at peace with him; he hath profaned his covenant.

*I Will Call Upon God; and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

Smoother than cream were the speeches of his mouth, but his heart was war; {N}

his words were softer than oil, yet were they keen-edged swords.

*I Will Call Upon God; and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He will sustain thee; {N}

He will never suffer the righteous to be moved.

*I Will Call Upon God; and the LORD Shall Save Me.*

אַנְשֵׁי דָמִים וּמִרְמָה, לֹא-יֶחֱצוּ יְמֵיהֶם;

But Thou, O God, wilt bring them down into the nethermost pit; {N}

men of blood and deceit shall not live out half their days; {N}

but as for me, I will trust in Thee. {P}
