142,1 Maschil of David, {N}
when he was in the cave;
a Prayer.
142,2 With my voice I cry unto the LORD;
with my voice I make supplication unto the LORD.
142,3 I pour out my complaint before Him, I declare before Him my trouble;
142,4 When my spirit fainteth within me–
Thou knowest my path– {N}
in the way wherein I walk have they hidden a snare for me.
142,5 Look on my right hand, and see, for there is no man that knoweth me; {N}
I have no way to flee;
no man careth for my soul.
142,6 I have cried unto Thee, O LORD; {N}
I have said:
‘Thou art my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.’
142,7 Attend unto my cry;
for I am brought very low; {N}
deliver me from my persecutors;
for they are too strong for me.
142,8 Bring my soul out of prison, that I may give thanks unto Thy name; {N}
the righteous shall crown themselves because of me;
for Thou wilt deal bountifully with me. {P}
Genesis11,8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth;
and they left off to build the city.
11,9 Therefore was the name of it called Babel;
because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth;
and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth. {P}
11,10 These are the generations of Shem.
Shem was a hundred years old, and begot Arpachshad two years after the flood.
11,11 And Shem lived after he begot Arpachshad five hundred years, and begot sons and daughters. {S}

11,22 And Serug lived thirty years, and begot Nahor.
11,23 And Serug lived after he begot Nahor two hundred years, and begot sons and daughters. {S}
11,24 And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begot Terah.
Kings2 21,25 Now the rest of the acts of Amon which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
2 21,26 And he was buried in his sepulchre in the garden of Uzza;
and Josiah his son reigned in his stead. {P}2 22,1 Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign;
and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem;
and his mother’s name was Jedidah the daughter of Adaiah of Bozkath.
2 22,2 And he did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left. {P}
2 22,3 And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of the LORD, saying.
2 22,4 ‘Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the money which is brought into the house of the LORD, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people;
2 22,5 and let them deliver it into the hand of the workmen that have the oversight of the house of the LORD;
and let them give it to the workmen that are in the house of the LORD, to repair the breaches of the house;
2 22,6 unto the carpenters, and to the builders, and to the masons; and for buying timber and hewn stone to repair the house.’–
2 22,7 Howbeit there was no reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand; for they dealt faithfully.
2 22,8 And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe:
‘I have found the book of the Law in the house of the LORD.’
And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
2 22,9 And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought back word unto the king, and said:
‘Thy servants have poured out the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of the workmen that have the oversight of the house of the LORD.’
2 22,10 And Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying:
‘Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book.’
And Shaphan read it before the king.
2 22,11 And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the Law, that he rent his clothes.
2 22,12 And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Micaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king’s servant, saying:
2 22,13 ‘Go ye, inquire of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found;
for great is the wrath of the LORD that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.’
2 22,14 So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asaiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe–
now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the second quarter–
and they spoke with her.
2 22,15 And she said unto them:
‘Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel:
Tell ye the man that sent you unto me:
2 22,16 Thus saith the LORD:
Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah hath read;
2 22,17 because they have forsaken Me, and have offered unto other gods, that they might provoke Me with all the work of their hands;
therefore My wrath shall be kindled against this place, and it shall not be quenched.
2 22,18 But unto the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the LORD, thus shall ye say to him:
Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel:
As touching the words which thou hast heard,
2 22,19 because thy heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before the LORD, when thou heardest what I spoke against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become an astonishment and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before Me, I also have heard thee, saith the LORD.
2 22,20 Therefore, behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil which I will bring upon this place.’
And they brought back word unto the king.
2 23,1 And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.
2 23,2 And the king went up to the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great; and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the LORD.
2 23,3 And the king stood on the platform, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep His commandments, and His testimonies, and His statutes, with all his heart, and all his soul, to confirm the words of this covenant that were written in this book; and all the people stood to the covenant.
2 23,4 And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the Asherah, and for all the host of heaven; and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Beth-el.
Ecclesiastes
7,4 The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning;
but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.
7,5 It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.
7,6 For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool; this also is vanity.
7,7 Surely oppression turneth a wise man into a fool; and a gift destroyeth the understanding.
7,8 Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof; and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
7,9 Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry; for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.
7,10 Say not thou:
‘How was it that the former days were better than these?’
for it is not out of wisdom that thou inquirest concerning this.
7,11 Wisdom is good with an inheritance, yea, a profit to them that see the sun.
7,12 For wisdom is a defence, even as money is a defence;
but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom preserveth the life of him that hath it.
7,13 Consider the work of God;
for who can make that straight, which He hath made crooked?
7,14 In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider;
God hath made even the one as well as the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him.
7,15 All things have I seen in the days of my vanity;
there is a righteous man that perisheth in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man that prolongeth his life in his evil-doing.
7,16 Be not righteous overmuch; neither make thyself overwise;
why shouldest thou destroy thyself?
7,17 Be not overmuch wicked, neither be thou foolish;
why shouldest thou die before thy time?
7,18 It is good that thou shouldest take hold of the one;
yea, also from the other withdraw not thy hand;
for he that feareth God shall discharge himself of them all.
Mark 15:16 – And the soldiers led him into the hall which was the Praetorium ;
and they called together the whole regiment;
Mark 15:17 – and they clothed him in purple, and braided a crown of thorns and put upon him;
Mark 15:18 – and began to salute him with,
“Hail, king of the Jews !”
Mark 15:19 – And they smote him on the head with a reed and spit in his face, and bowed upon their knees and worshipped him.
Mark 15:20 – And having mocked him, they divested him of the purple, and clothed him in his own garments, and led him forth to crucify him.
Mark 15:21 – And they compelled a passer-by, Simon the Cyrenian, the father of Alexander and Rufus, who was coming from the fields, to bear his cross.
Mark 15:22 – And they brought him to Golgotha, the place which is interpreted a Skull.
Mark 15:23 – And they gave him to drink wine in which myrrh was mixed;
and he would not receive it.
Mark 15:24 – And when they had crucified him, they divided his garments;
and cast the lot upon them, what each should take.
Mark 15:25 – And it was the third hour when they crucified him.
Mark 15:26 – And the cause of his death was written in the inscription:

Acts 27:8 – And with difficulty, after sailing about it, we arrived at a place called the Fair Havens, near to which was the city called Lassa.
Acts 27:9 – And we were there a long time, and till after the day of the Jewish fast.
And it was hazardous [then] for any one to go by sea;
and Paul counselled them,
Acts 27:10 – and said:
Men, I perceive that our voyage will be [attended] with peril, and with much loss, not only of the cargo of our ship, but also of our lives.
Acts 27:11 – But the centurion listened to the pilot, and to the owner of the ship, more than to the words of Paul.
Acts 27:12 – And, because that harbor was not commodious for wintering in, many of us were desirous to sail from it, and if possible, to reach and to winter in a certain harbor of Crete, which was called Phenice, and which opened towards the south.
Acts 27:13 – And when the south wind breezed up, and they hoped to arrive as they desired, we began to sail around Crete.
