I will lift up mine eyes 121.1
There were set thrones for judgment 122.5
Unto Thee I lift up mine eyes 123.1
Our help is in the name of The Eternal One 124.8
So The Eternal One is round about His people 125.2
Chapter 121 *I will lift up mine eyes*
א שִׁיר, לַמַּעֲלוֹת:
אֶשָּׂא עֵינַי, אֶל-הֶהָרִים– מֵאַיִן, יָבֹא עֶזְרִי. 1
A Song of Ascents. {N}
I will lift up mine eyes unto the mountains:
from whence shall my help come?
*I will lift up mine eyes*
ב עֶזְרִי, מֵעִם יְהוָה– עֹשֵׂה, שָׁמַיִם וָאָרֶץ. 2
My help cometh from The Eternal One, who made heaven and earth.
*I will lift up mine eyes*
ג אַל-יִתֵּן לַמּוֹט רַגְלֶךָ; אַל-יָנוּם, שֹׁמְרֶךָ. 3
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved;
He that keepeth thee will not slumber.
*I will lift up mine eyes*
ד הִנֵּה לֹא-יָנוּם, וְלֹא יִישָׁן– שׁוֹמֵר, יִשְׂרָאֵל. 4
Behold, He that keepeth Israel doth neither slumber nor sleep.
*I will lift up mine eyes*
ה יְהוָה שֹׁמְרֶךָ; יְהוָה צִלְּךָ, עַל-יַד יְמִינֶךָ. 5
The Eternal One is thy keeper;
The Eternal One is thy shade upon thy right hand.
*I will lift up mine eyes*
ו יוֹמָם, הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ לֹא-יַכֶּכָּה; וְיָרֵחַ בַּלָּיְלָה. 6
The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
*I will lift up mine eyes*
ז יְהוָה, יִשְׁמָרְךָ מִכָּל-רָע: יִשְׁמֹר, אֶת-נַפְשֶׁךָ. 7
The Eternal One shall keep thee from all evil;
He shall keep thy soul.
*I will lift up mine eyes*
ח יְהוָה, יִשְׁמָר-צֵאתְךָ וּבוֹאֶךָ– מֵעַתָּה, וְעַד-עוֹלָם. 8
The Eternal One shall guard thy going out and thy coming in, from this time forth and for ever. {P}

Chapter 122 *There were set thrones for judgment*
א שִׁיר הַמַּעֲלוֹת, לְדָוִד:
שָׂמַחְתִּי, בְּאֹמְרִים לִי– בֵּית יְהוָה נֵלֵךְ. 1
A Song of Ascents; of David. {N}
I rejoiced when they said unto me:
‘Let us go unto the house of The Eternal One.’

ב עֹמְדוֹת, הָיוּ רַגְלֵינוּ– בִּשְׁעָרַיִךְ, יְרוּשָׁלִָם. 2
Our feet are standing within thy gates, O Jerusalem;

ג יְרוּשָׁלִַם הַבְּנוּיָה– כְּעִיר, שֶׁחֻבְּרָה-לָּהּ יַחְדָּו. 3
Jerusalem, that art builded as a city that is compact together;
*There were set thrones for judgment*
ד שֶׁשָּׁם עָלוּ שְׁבָטִים, שִׁבְטֵי-יָהּ–עֵדוּת לְיִשְׂרָאֵל: לְהֹדוֹת, לְשֵׁם יְהוָה. 4
Whither the tribes went up, even the tribes of The Eternal One, as a testimony unto Israel, to give thanks unto the name of The Eternal One.

ה כִּי שָׁמָּה, יָשְׁבוּ כִסְאוֹת לְמִשְׁפָּט: כִּסְאוֹת, לְבֵית דָּוִד. 5
For there were set thrones for judgment, the thrones of the house of David.
*There were set thrones for judgment*
ו שַׁאֲלוּ, שְׁלוֹם יְרוּשָׁלִָם; יִשְׁלָיוּ, אֹהֲבָיִךְ. 6
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem;
may they prosper that love thee.

ז יְהִי-שָׁלוֹם בְּחֵילֵךְ; שַׁלְוָה, בְּאַרְמְנוֹתָיִךְ. 7
Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.

ח לְמַעַן, אַחַי וְרֵעָי– אֲדַבְּרָה-נָּא שָׁלוֹם בָּךְ. 8
For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say:
‘Peace be within thee.’

ט לְמַעַן, בֵּית-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ– אֲבַקְשָׁה טוֹב לָךְ. 9
For the sake of the house of The Eternal One our Mighty One I will seek thy good. {P}

Chapter 123 *Unto Thee I Lift Up Mine Eyes*
א שִׁיר, הַמַּעֲלוֹת:
אֵלֶיךָ, נָשָׂאתִי אֶת-עֵינַי– הַיֹּשְׁבִי, בַּשָּׁמָיִם. 1

Unto Thee I lift up mine eyes, O Thou that art enthroned in the heavens.

ב הִנֵּה כְעֵינֵי עֲבָדִים, אֶל-יַד אֲדוֹנֵיהֶם–
כְּעֵינֵי שִׁפְחָה, אֶל-יַד גְּבִרְתָּהּ:
כֵּן עֵינֵינוּ, אֶל-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ– עַד, שֶׁיְּחָנֵּנוּ. 2
Behold, as the eyes of servants unto the hand of their master, {N}
as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; {N}
so our eyes look unto The Eternal One our Mighty One, until He be favorable unto us.

ג חָנֵּנוּ יְהוָה חָנֵּנוּ: כִּי-רַב, שָׂבַעְנוּ בוּז. 3
Be gracious unto us, O Eternal One be favorable unto us;
for we are full sated with contempt.

ד רַבַּת, שָׂבְעָה-לָּהּ נַפְשֵׁנוּ:
הַלַּעַג הַשַּׁאֲנַנִּים; הַבּוּז, לגאיונים (לִגְאֵי יוֹנִים). 4
Our soul is full sated {N}
with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud oppressors. {P}

Chapter 124 *Our Help Is the Name of The Eternal One*
א שִׁיר הַמַּעֲלוֹת, לְדָוִד:
לוּלֵי יְהוָה, שֶׁהָיָה לָנוּ– יֹאמַר-נָא, יִשְׂרָאֵל. 1
A Song of Ascents; of David. {N}
‘If it had not been The Eternal One who was for us’,
let Israel now say;
*Our Help Is the Name of The Eternal One*
ב לוּלֵי יְהוָה, שֶׁהָיָה לָנוּ– בְּקוּם עָלֵינוּ אָדָם. 2
‘If it had not been The Eternal One who was for us, when men rose up against us,
*Our Help Is the Name of The Eternal One*
ג אֲזַי, חַיִּים בְּלָעוּנוּ– בַּחֲרוֹת אַפָּם בָּנוּ. 3
Then they had swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us;

ד אֲזַי, הַמַּיִם שְׁטָפוּנוּ– נַחְלָה, עָבַר עַל-נַפְשֵׁנוּ. 4
Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul;

ה אֲזַי, עָבַר עַל-נַפְשֵׁנוּ– הַמַּיִם, הַזֵּידוֹנִים. 5
Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.’

ו בָּרוּךְ יְהוָה– שֶׁלֹּא נְתָנָנוּ טֶרֶף, לְשִׁנֵּיהֶם. 6
Blessed be The Eternal One, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.

ז נַפְשֵׁנוּ– כְּצִפּוֹר נִמְלְטָה, מִפַּח יוֹקְשִׁים:
הַפַּח נִשְׁבָּר, וַאֲנַחְנוּ נִמְלָטְנוּ. 7
Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers; {N}
the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

ח עֶזְרֵנוּ, בְּשֵׁם יְהוָה– עֹשֵׂה, שָׁמַיִם וָאָרֶץ. 8
Our help is in the name of The Eternal One, who made heaven and earth. {P}

Chapter 125 *The Eternal One Is Round His People*
א שִׁיר, הַמַּעֲלוֹת:
הַבֹּטְחִים בַּיהוָה– כְּהַר-צִיּוֹן לֹא-יִמּוֹט, לְעוֹלָם יֵשֵׁב.1
A Song of Ascents. {N}
They that trust in The Eternal One are as mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abideth for ever.

ב יְרוּשָׁלִַם– הָרִים, סָבִיב לָהּ:
וַיהוָה, סָבִיב לְעַמּוֹ– מֵעַתָּה, וְעַד-עוֹלָם. 2
As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, {N}
so The Eternal One is round about His people, from this time forth and for ever.

ג כִּי לֹא יָנוּחַ, שֵׁבֶט הָרֶשַׁע– עַל, גּוֹרַל הַצַּדִּיקִים:
לְמַעַן, לֹא-יִשְׁלְחוּ הַצַּדִּיקִים בְּעַוְלָתָה יְדֵיהֶם. 3
For the rod of wickedness shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; {N}
that the righteous put not forth their hands unto iniquity.

ד הֵיטִיבָה יְהוָה, לַטּוֹבִים; וְלִישָׁרִים, בְּלִבּוֹתָם. 4
Do good, O Eternal One unto the good, and to them that are upright in their hearts.

ה וְהַמַּטִּים עֲקַלְקַלּוֹתָם– יוֹלִיכֵם יְהוָה, אֶת-פֹּעֲלֵי הָאָוֶן:
שָׁלוֹם, עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵל. 5
But as for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, The Eternal One will lead them away with the workers of iniquity. {N}
