Sabbath Lesson 115 “Two trumpets of silver”

A train has two horns. Each horn has a different sound, a different note. The crash between the two sounds pierces the ear from a great distance. It causes alarm.

Eastern cultures used trumpets and drums to call the troops to war. The Almighty ordered that two trumpets be constructed to send out a call for people to come to Him.

When He calls, when He comes all men will know it for sure.

Torah Trek #115 Numbers 9

At the commandment of The Eternal One the sons of Israel journeyed, and at the commandment of The Eternal One they encamped:

as long as the cloud abode upon the tabernacle they remained encamped.

And when the cloud tarried upon the tabernacle many days, then the sons of Israel kept the charge of The Eternal One, and journeyed not.

And sometimes the cloud was a few days upon the tabernacle;

according to the commandment of The Eternal One they remained encamped, and according to the commandment of The Eternal One they journeyed.

And sometimes the cloud was from evening until morning;

and when the cloud was taken up in the morning, they journeyed;

or if it continued by day and by night, when the cloud was taken up, they journeyed.

Whether it were two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud tarried upon the tabernacle, abiding thereon, the sons of Israel remained encamped, and journeyed not; but when it was taken up, they journeyed.

At the commandment of The Eternal One they encamped, and at the commandment of The Eternal One they journeyed;

they kept the charge of The Eternal One, at the commandment of The Eternal One by the hand of Moses. {P}

Chapter 10

And The Eternal One spoke unto Moses, saying:

‘Make thee two trumpets of silver;

of beaten work shalt thou make them;

and they shall be unto thee for the calling of the congregation, and for causing the camps to set forward.

And when they shall blow with them, all the community shall gather themselves unto thee at the door of the tent of meeting.

And if they blow but with one, then the princes, the heads of the thousands of Israel, shall gather themselves unto thee.

And when ye blow an alarm, the camps that lie on the east side shall take their journey.

And when ye blow an alarm the second time, the camps that lie on the south side shall set forward;

they shall blow an alarm for their journeys.

But when the assembly is to be gathered together, ye shall blow, but ye shall not sound an alarm.

And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets; and they shall be to you for a statute for ever throughout your generations.

And when ye go to war in your land against the adversary that oppresseth you, then ye shall sound an alarm with the trumpets;

and ye shall be remembered before The Eternal One your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.

Also in the day of your gladness, and in your appointed seasons, and in your new moons, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt-offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace-offerings;

and they shall be to you for a memorial before your Mighty One:

I am The Eternal One your God.’ {P}

And it came to pass in the second year, in the second month, on the twentieth day of the month, that the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle of the testimony.
