Chapter 81 *Thou didst call in trouble and I rescued thee*
For the Leader;
upon the Gittith.
[A Psalm] of Asaph.

Sing aloud unto the Savior our strength;
shout unto the Savior of Jacob.
*Thou didst call in trouble and I rescued thee*

Take up the melody, and sound the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.
*Thou didst call in trouble and I rescued thee*

Blow the horn at the new moon, at the full moon for our feast-day.
*Thou didst call in trouble and I rescued thee*

For it is a custom for Israel, a message of the Savior of Jacob.
*Thou didst call in trouble and I rescued thee*

ו עֵדוּת, בִּיהוֹסֵף שָׂמוֹ– בְּצֵאתוֹ, עַל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם;
He appointed it in Joseph for a testimony, when He went forth against the land of Egypt. {N}
The speech of one that I knew not did I hear:
*Thou didst call in trouble and I rescued thee*

‘I removed his shoulder from the burden;
his hands were freed from the basket.
*Thou didst call in trouble and I rescued thee*

Thou didst call in trouble, and I rescued thee; {N}
I answered thee in the secret place of thunder;
I proved thee at the waters of Meribah.
*Thou didst call in trouble and I rescued thee*

[Selah]

Hear, O My people, and I will admonish thee:
O Israel, if thou wouldest hearken unto Me!
*Thou didst call in trouble and I rescued thee*

There shall no strange ‘el be in thee;
neither shalt thou worship any foreign ‘al.
*Thou didst call in trouble and I rescued thee*

יא אָנֹכִי, יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ– הַמַּעַלְךָ, מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם;
I Myself The Eternal One am thy Savior who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt; {N}
open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
*Thou didst call in trouble and I rescued thee*

But My people hearkened not to My voice;
and Israel would none of Me.
*Thou didst call in trouble and I rescued thee*

So I let them go after the stubbornness of their heart, that they might walk in their own counsels.
*Thou didst call in trouble and I rescued thee*

Oh that My people would hearken unto Me, that Israel would walk in My ways!
*Thou didst call in trouble and I rescued thee*

I would soon subdue their enemies, and turn My hand against their adversaries.
*Thou didst call in trouble and I rescued thee*

The haters of The Eternal One should dwindle away before Him;
and their punishment should endure for ever.
*Thou didst call in trouble and I rescued thee*

They should also be fed with the fat of wheat;
and with honey out of the rock would I satisfy thee.’ {P}
*Thou didst call in trouble and I rescued thee*

Chapter 82 *Arise O Savior Judge The Earth*

deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.
*Arise O Savior Judge The Earth*

ה לֹא יָדְעוּ, וְלֹא יָבִינוּ– בַּחֲשֵׁכָה יִתְהַלָּכוּ;
They know not, neither do they understand;
they go about in darkness; {N}
all the foundations of the earth are moved.
*Arise O Savior Judge The Earth*

I said:
Ye are ‘elohym, and all of you sons of e’leyohn.
*Arise O Savior Judge The Earth*

Nevertheless ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.’
*Arise O Savior Judge The Earth*

Arise, O Savior, judge the earth;
for Thou shalt possess all the gatherings. {P}

hold not Thy peace, and be not still, O Savior.

For, lo, Thine enemies are in an uproar;
and they that hate Thee have lifted up the head.
